BUSIA COUNTY EMBRACES INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO TACKLE NUTRITION DEFICIENCY
Department of Health and Sanitation has kick started a co-funded nutrition initiative in collaboration with Nutrition International by convening the first meeting with Project Implementing Teams (PIT) in a multi-sectoral approach to address nutrition challenges in the County.
The meeting which was facilitated by Busia County Directors of Health, Dr. David Mukabi and Dr. Janerose Ambuchi, and moderated by the County Nutrition Coordinator, Ms Scholastic Nabade, brought together key stakeholders from Busia County Government, National Government and Nutrition International solidifying their collaboration and chart the way forward.
The primary objectives of the gathering were two-fold: to foster a shared understanding of the partnership between the two entities and to finalize the partnership work plan for the fiscal year 2024/25.
The partnership seeks to leverage on Nutrition International's expertise in nutrition programming and Busia County's local knowledge and resources. Key areas of focus include integrated maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Nutrition, and Health Program.
Nutrition International team was led by the Program Country Director Ms. Martha Nyagaya who showed optimism in success of the program emphasizing on realistic and achievable work plans.
