UNICEF BOOSTS IMMUNIZATION SERVICES IN BUSIA COUNTY WITH MAJOR DONATIONS
The Department of Health and Sanitation received medical supplies and data management tools donation from UNICEF.
The donation valued at over 6.7 million shillings included 230,000 solo shot devices worth 5.7 million shillings and immunization data tools valued at kshs. 1 million shillings.
The solo shot devices will strengthen the county's immunization program, while the data tools will enhance record-keeping and monitoring capabilities across local health facilities, thereby, improving the efficiency of vaccine delivery and help reach targeted populations more effectively.
Busia County Immunization Coordinator, Ms. Juliet Kilima said the county currently operates 122 immunization facilities with annual target of reaching 30,400 children with 15 different antigens through the immunization program and with that boost from UNICEF they now have improved capacity and better coverage of their target population.
