
BUSIA COUNTY GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH KCB FOUNDATION TO TRAIN 500 YOUTHS UNDER THE 2JIAJIRI PROGRAM
The Department of Education and Industrial Skills Development (ISD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the KCB Foundation in 2024 to implement the 2Jiajiri program, which will equip youth with skills for economic empowerment over the next three years.
In the first cohort of 2024, 500 beneficiaries were recruited from across the county’s 35 wards, completed their vocational training in various trades, and sat for the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) examinations.
The Directorate of ISD and KCB are pleased to announce a 90 percent success rate, which demonstrates the program’s effectiveness in equipping young people with industry-relevant skills.
The program spearheaded by Busia Governor, H.E Dr. Paul Otuoma, and implemented through the Department of Education and Industrial Skills Development program is a transformative opportunity for the youth and collaborating with the KCB Foundation 2Jiajiri Program, the county government is committed to empowering young people with skills that will enhance their employability and entrepreneurship prospects.
